My name is Staci, and I've LOVED football for years. Every autumn Sunday afternoon, we'd watch the Cincinnati Bengals play (side note: this was back when they regularly won). I can still remember the sadness (What can I say? I'm a girl, I cried) when they Bengals lost Super Bowl XXIII to the San Francisco 49ers 20-16. I still get excited every fall to watch the Bengals play even though their record is less than stellar.
I played soccer and ran track growing up, while my brother played football. I tried to convince my parents to let me play football in 5th grade because I wanted to show that I was as tough as the boys were, but they wouldn't let me. As a parent myself, I can look back though and understand, I would have been killed. I was short, skinny and not all that coordinated. I've grown since then, but I am still sorely lacking in the coordination department. The good news for me though is that it doesn't take coordination to watch football!
I know though that not everyone grew up in a family where sports were revered like mine, so this blog is my attempt to explain the game as well as I can and maybe even get you to love it as well.
